I didn’t want knitting to be fun, I really didn’t. So to prove to myself how much I’d hate knitting, I bought a ball of yarn, and had my mom show me the knitting basics. Turns out, I don’t hate it. In fact, it’s really pretty cool. I’m thinking that by the end of the winter season, I’m going to have a scarf to go with every outfit I own. This one with the blue yarn is going slow, but I suppose you can’t expect much from your first attempt at knitting.
But that’s not to say that I’m giving up my quilting anytime soon. I’m almost done cutting the pieces to the new wedding quilt, and I’m working on piecing what’s already cut up. I just have three more prints to cut, and I’ll have the whole top of the quilt ready to sew up. I’m getting excited, since I think it’s really going to turn out well, at least color-wise. It’s one of those things that once I see the fabrics next to each other, it just makes me so happy that I don’t stink at combining fabrics.

No! We can’t lose you to the Darkside. I’m just kidding! Knitting’s cool. And it’s certainly more portable than quilting, isn’t it? I can’t believe that is your first attempt. It looks so good.
I love sweaters and afghans but my first attempt at knitting (when I was in Intermediate schools) was supposed to be a dish rag, it ended up as a scarf for Barbie. :> A sweater pattern I saw on one of the blogs at http://needlecase.net started me reconsidering trying again …but I think I’ll try Temari, Japanese thread balls, first. They look really cool and my sister-in-law gave me the book on how to make them along with the supplies for making the first one two years ago. The only thing stopping me from starting is my guilt over the unfinished quilt projects I have right now. :>
Hey, welcome to the quilt/knit freaks, er, I mean folks. I just took up knitting again after being away from it for ten years. Now I get to have not one, but count ’em, TWO stashes to hide from my DH. Whoo Hoo!

oh you need more hobbies, I quilt, knit/crochet, cross stitch and scrapbook..so thats FOUR different stashes!!!! my daughter does a fair amount of beading plus scrapbooking so thats an awful lot of stuff there.
