I’m so happy to announce that I finally have put together a hand quilting tutorial!
Even more exciting, it’s running today at the Sew, Mama, Sew blog! I’m so happy that it will reach so many quilters that might just give hand quilting a shot now. I hope that as you use the tutorial, that you will let me know how your attempts go. I’d love to see what people make by using it. Also, if anyone has any further questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line. I’ll certainly try to help as best as I can!
I hope you’ll enjoy!
Thank you Sarah! I am currently learning to hand quilt…I’ve been taught finger and thumb quilting and currently use both, however I seem to be most comfortable quilting just as you described in your tutorial. I’m surrounded by die hard rule followers so it’s nice to see someone else bend the rules a little!
ok – feeling lost here – Sew mama gave this link but there is no direction on where to go for the hand quilting tutorial… feel like I’ve hit a dead end road. :/
I just finished my first hand quilted quilt. I won’t tell you how long it took. I really love it. I have started another one and this one should go quicker. I love having something to work on at night. I have not read your tutorial but I am headed that way right now.
Thanks so much for this! I tried it last year, but I didn’t know what I was doing and got frustrated. My stitches looked fine from the front, but were all over the place on the back. I’ll give it another shot, though. Thanks again!
Hi from Portugal : )
thank you so much for sharing

I just bookmarked your hand-quilting tutorial over at SMS–very well-done! I’ll use it to start hand-quilting my second quilt: queen-sized double axe-heads. I was happy to discover your site; you do lovely work.
Love all of your work, especially your quilts. Your hand quilted stitches look great, much better than mine. I am still trying to master the hand quilting.
